The Lenovo Z5 is now official and it has a notch

f you’ll recall, over the last few weeks Lenovo has been teasing the upcoming Z5 smartphone, which was billed as the first real “all-screen” smartphone. The teases suggested it wouldn’t have a notch, or a chin for that matter, and would boast a truly impressive 95% screen-to-body ratio.

Well, the Lenovo Z5 is now officially official and it looks like Lenovo missed the mark a bit. First and foremost is that the Z5 does indeed boast a notch at the top of the screen. That was definitely not teased. The handset also has a chin at the bottom of the display, too. Not a big one by any means, but it’s there nevertheless.
As far as specs are concerned, the Z5 boasts a 6.2-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a 1080p resolution. Lenovo says the screen-to-body ratio is 90%. There is an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor under the hood, 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel cameras on the back, and a battery that measures in at 3300mAh.

There are two variants of the Lenovo Z5. The first is a 64GB option with 6GB of RAM and it will retail for 1,299 yuan (about $200). The other option has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage and will cost 1,799 yuan (about $280). It goes on sale on June 12 in China, but there is no word yet on a broader launch just yet.
So it definitely isn’t the “all-screen” smartphone they were hinting at by any means. But, here it is anyway. What do you think of the Lenovo Z5?
